Went out with Ander on Lake Austin for a day. The bite was slow until late morning when the sun started to heat things up. Water was in the mid to upper 50s, and we fished mostly the lower part of the lake. Crankbaits yielded the better bites as the day progressed.

If you haven't had a chance to fish with Ander you don't know what your missing. He is a great guy and an amazing guide.

I caught a monster drum on a frog [IMG], and we ended up with just over 19 pounds for the day.

Nice. Haven't been on that lake in a long long time. Might have to try it before too long.

Yeah me neither. I already saw them on the Fbook though. Ander said you caught them on spinning gear over there...haha.

I can tell you with confidence, the lake still is in bad shape. I caught north of 15 keepers in the Media bass to get to 9.52.... That wasn't a typo. I had multiple 16 inch 1 lbers. Pretty sad.

Uh-oh... they're on to us, Randal. ;) The best part about it is... neither of us are lying about how we caught that 19 lb bag. Har!

And bDick... I pretty much agree with you, but I will say... that this was the first day in over a year on Lake Austin when most all of the fish we caught were good, tubby, healthy looking fish. It was very good to see, but until I start having it happen consistently... I won't hold my breath.

Yeah. The drum wasn't actually caught on a frog. Pretty much everything was on a crankbait.
