This section needs a little love. I also haven't posted many of my salt excursions over the last year and half. Some of you have seen this stuff on Facebook, but I figured I will throw it out there again and get the ball rolling.

Didn't measure it but it was a 5lber. The Captain I fish with down there, John Havens, throws them exclusively in the winter and spring and he catches giants on it.

Mine aren't nearly as trophy but I thought I'd join the salt porn party anyway.

Nice flounder that ate a soft plastic on an early morning wade last year near Baffin.

    image.jpg

35 inch Red that came out of about a foot of water in the middle of the night. I was taking a beer break at the boat and chunking a soft plastic for giggles. It honestly scared the hell out of me when it hit. Catching it on a Core 50 paired with a 6ft 5 medium action Skeleton made it even more exciting. Needless to say......... I boat flipped it anyway.

Just got back from Rockport last weekend. Flounder gigged the first night we were there, got 17. Fished in my boat Friday, only a few trout. Got a guide for Saturday since we were in a tournament and I dont know the bays that well yet, Limited black drum by 8:30 and then got a few reds, including the one below at 32". Great weekend for sure.

    Sorry for my brothers photobomb

Nice flounder. I've never gigged off a boat. It's always been carry a lantern half wrapped in foil, or an under water light rigged on a stick, and wade for miles. Always hated to see groups of string rays follow in my tracks as I stirred up the bottom. Never step backwards!

WTF Trey? Did you just show us $20,000 worth of fishing trips in one years time? OK, I'm jealous I admit.

That was the first time I've gigged. I was amazed at how many rays there were Shawn. I used to think that those ray guards the waders wear were over kill, not anymore.

I have gigged for flounder several times and never say a Ray! Must be lucky. I did have porpoises circle us in waist deep water feeding one time. They were schooling like Bass.

In the first pic from Baffin I thought you were on that 10in worm game at first.
